International Legacy Giving Day

01-02-2020

Your green legacy allows your favourite conservation or environmental organization to protect our natural wonders, invest in long-term solutions, and seek lasting answers to the critical issues of our time.  A green bequest in your Will serves to honour your memory, perpetuate your ideals and enable future generations to protect this fragile earth and all who call it home.  No matter the size, your gift will be leveraged into action. Join the many other individual supporters around the world who have the satisfaction of knowing they will leave a personal green legacy for generations to come.

Charities around the world have come together to mark International Legacy Giving Dayon September 13.   G2/ Give Green Canada joins with other organizations in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Switzerland and the UK, to encourage people to create a legacy in their will.

Events are taking place across Europe – Testamento Solidale Italy will launch a new campaign on web, radio, press and TV, as well as hosting a media event in Rome.  In Denmark, Det Gode Testamente is holding events in three major cities along the theme of “Pass on Something Good”, where people can leave a message for future generations in the form of a letter or gift, to be locked up in time capsules that will be opened in 100 years’ time.

In Belgium, a new online advertising campaign kicks off with a series of short films that share the real-life stories of what people have included in their will, while in Austria, the results of new market research about charitable legacies are available.

Denmark, Italy and Norway are offering free advice to individuals from lawyers, to assist in updating their will to leave a gift to charity, after family and friends have been remembered.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Include a Charity Australia is launching its first Australian Legacy Foresight report, and here in Canada, G2/Give Green Canada is sharing the “Your Green Legacy” message.

This year, the annual International Legacy Giving Day is dedicated to all those who have generously left a charitable gift in their will. In several regions many of the good causes people rely upon are funded in part by gifts in wills, and without these generous donations, the amazing work these organizations do would not be able to continue.

After people have taken care of their family and friends, creating a legacy gift to their favourite charity or non-profit organization in their will can make an enormous difference, for generations to come.

Here is a listing of the many legacy-awareness campaigns around the world:
