Remembering Maureen

The people and wildlife of British Columbia lost a dear friend in 2000 when Maureen Wayne passed away after a long fight with cancer. Maureen’s family and her workplace, the Habitat Conservation Trust Fund, set up a memorial fund to commemorate her life and her passion for B.C.’s wildlife.

Friends and family contributed to the fund and the Pacific Estuary Conservation Program offered to match the donations. A special wildlife project will be undertaken in an estuary, a type of habitat very close to Maureen’s heart.

Maureen loved her work and she was committed to helping people across the province do projects for nature in their areas. Knowing that she has been honoured in this way has brought us great comfort during this very difficult time.
